OnTheDiamond and Your Data
I firmly believe in privacy and in the principle that your data is your data. This is how your data are used.
A) Identifiable Data
What do I store and how do I store it?
Your statistics data are stored on a Google Firestore server. This makes the data available cross device and cross platform if you choose to.
If you create an account, the sign-in details you provide — your email address and the display name you choose — are held by Google Firebase Authentication so you can sign back in and so your data can follow you to a new device. You can also use Sign in with Apple, in which case Apple may give me a private relay address instead of your real one. You can use the app without an account at all; in that case your data are tied only to an anonymous identifier that does not identify you.
I do not sell your data, and I do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed in this policy who are needed to run the app.
If you send a message to support, either a general message or a message with a log attached, that message and our conversation are stored on the helpdesk I run for my own apps. When you send a message, the service collects basic information about your device: the IP address from where you sent it, the location (town-level) from where it was sent, and a basic device type.
When you send a log, the log contains information about app execution — no data which identify you personally are collected.
What do I do with your data?
I treat it with respect. Apart from what is needed to run or support OnTheDiamond, I will never share your personal data with a third party and I will never sell your personal data.
Voice and text entry
OnTheDiamond lets you record stats by speaking or typing a short description of what happened, instead of tapping through a grid. This is optional. Everything in the app can still be done by tapping, and you never have to use it.
The microphone. If you choose to use the voice option, the app asks for permission to use your microphone and your device's speech recognition. Speech is turned into text by your own device, using Apple's or Google's built-in speech recognition. Your voice recording is not sent to me and is not stored by me.
What leaves your device. Only the resulting text is sent to my server — for example, "he singled to left and drove in a run." That text is then passed to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, which reads the sentence and returns which stat it describes. Anthropic acts as a processor for this purpose. Nothing else about you is sent with it: not your name, not your email, not your child's name, and not your other statistics.
What is stored. When you use voice or text entry during a live game, the words you entered are saved alongside that game in your own account, so you can look back at how the game unfolded. You can delete them by deleting the game. They are visible to you and to anyone you have chosen to share that player with.
What is not stored. The words you speak or type are never written into my error logs, my crash reports, or my analytics. Those record only that the feature was used and whether it succeeded.
How is your data used within the OnTheDiamond app?
If you email me with a problem, I may ask you to send information about your app usage only to help solve the problem.
Data Captured to Improve OnTheDiamond
I use two methods of collecting anonymous technical data to improve OnTheDiamond.
I use a crash reporter called Firebase Crashlytics and an analytics service called Firebase Analytics. These features track usage and app crashes.
If the app crashes for you, the next time you load the app, technical data about what was happening right before the crash are uploaded. This information includes non-identifiable technical data such as device type and system state at the time of the crash. I use my own logs (which you may choose to send to me) to correlate what happened with that crash data. These logs are sent using the logging module on the settings screen.
Firebase Analytics collects aggregated data about which features are being used the most. There is no personal identifying information collected through analytics. I use these data to understand how the app is being used and where to focus development efforts.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and everything in it from within the app, on the Settings screen. This removes your players, seasons, games, statistics and any saved voice or text entries.

OnTheDiamond is designed to respect your privacy.
Your statistics are stored on Google Firebase. If you create an account, your email address and display name are stored so you can sign in; if you don't, your data are tied only to an anonymous identifier.
Voice entry is optional. Your speech is turned into text on your own device, and only that text is sent on to be interpreted.
Crash and analytics data are technical and non-identifying.
